The official TEF Canada and TEFaQ are now offered at ILSC-Montréal.
What is the TEF Canada and the TEFaQ?
The Test d’Évaluation du Français (TEF Canada) and the Test de Français adapté au Québec (TEFaQ) are language proficiency tests designed by the Chamber of Commerce of Paris Ile-de-France and both are recognized by the MICC (Ministère de l’immigration et des Communautés Culturelles du Québec) and by the CIC (Citizenship and Immigration Canada).
The Tests
TEF Canada
4 Parts:
- Oral Comprehension
- Oral Expression
- Written Comprehension
- Written Expression
TEF
The TEF has 5 parts:
- Written Comprehension - 60 questions
- Oral Comprehension - 60 questions
- Lexicon and Structure - 40 questions
- Written Expression - 60 min
- Oral Expression - 15 min
TEFaQ
The TEFaQ has two mandatory parts: oral comprehension and oral expression. However, it is possible to add two optional parts: written comprehension and written expression.
Oral Comprehension
40 minutes / 60 questions / 360 points
Oral Expression
40 minutes / 2 subjects / 450 points
Your oral expression will be assessed through a face-to-face speaking test with two assessors.
ILSC-Montréal is not allowed to provide any immigration advice or information regarding which parts of the test you should take. You can register for one, two, three or four parts and pay accordingly.

TEFaQ
The price of each mandatory section of the TEFaQ is $130.00
The price of each optional part: $60.00
Please download the registration form and fill out the credit card authorization form and send these to Philippe.Sauret[at]ilsc[dot]com. On the day of the exam, please bring 2 ID photos (see the requirements below) and your passport.
You can also come directly to ILSC-Montreal to register. We are open daily from 9:30am until 5:00pm. You can pay by cash, credit card or debit card.
